IMO DCS

What it is

IMO DCS (Data Collection System) is the global counterpart to EU MRV. Operators submit annual fuel-consumption data through the flag state to IMO GISIS. That data feeds the CII rating system.

Who it applies to

Cargo, RoPax, and cruise ships 5,000 GT and above trading internationally — under MARPOL Annex VI, Regulation 27.

What gets reported

Annual roll-ups per ship:

• Fuel consumption by type (in tonnes)
• Distance travelled (NM)
• Hours underway
• Identification: IMO number, name, flag, type, capacity (DWT or GT)

Note that DCS is annual aggregate, unlike EU MRV which is voyage-level.

What the platform generates

A IMO DCS Report containing:

• Vessel identification and particulars (name, IMO, flag, type, DWT, GT)
• Annual fuel consumption by type (HFO, VLSFO, LFO, MDO, MGO, LNG, methanol, biofuel)
• Total fuel consumption
• Total distance over ground
• Sea days and port days
• Data-quality flag (record count, completeness)

The report is generated for any vessel-year combination from the same database that powers the rest of the dashboard — no separate ingestion step.

Deadline

31 March of each year, for the previous calendar year. Submitted by the flag administration to IMO GISIS.
