# IMO DCS

> Annual Data Collection System submission for fuel oil consumption.

## What it is

IMO DCS (Data Collection System) is the global counterpart to EU MRV. Operators submit **annual** fuel-consumption data through the flag state to IMO GISIS. That data feeds the CII rating system.

## Who it applies to

Cargo, RoPax, and cruise ships **5,000 GT and above** trading internationally — under MARPOL Annex VI, Regulation 27.

## What gets reported

Annual roll-ups per ship:

* Fuel consumption by type (in tonnes)
* Distance travelled (NM)
* Hours underway
* Identification: IMO number, name, flag, type, capacity (DWT or GT)

Note that DCS is **annual aggregate**, unlike EU MRV which is voyage-level.

## What the platform generates

A **IMO DCS Report** containing:

* Vessel identification and particulars (name, IMO, flag, type, DWT, GT)
* Annual fuel consumption by type (HFO, VLSFO, LFO, MDO, MGO, LNG, methanol, biofuel)
* Total fuel consumption
* Total distance over ground
* Sea days and port days
* Data-quality flag (record count, completeness)

The report is generated for any vessel-year combination from the same database that powers the rest of the dashboard — no separate ingestion step.

## Deadline

**31 March** of each year, for the previous calendar year. Submitted by the flag administration to IMO GISIS.
